Memorial Day Weekend in Miami Beach

I was honored to be part of the National Salute to America's Heroes (NSAH) Protocol Team as the media and protocol coordinator in the 2021 Air & Sea Show presented by Hyundai this past Memorial Day weekend in Miami Beach.

Memorial Day weekend is more than just a long weekend filled with barbecues and boat days. It's a weekend to pay tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives and those currently serving to fight on behalf of our freedom.

From pins to medals to cries and smiles, I witnessed the most humane event on one of the most pivotal holidays out from under the COVID-19 strict guidelines and restrictions. Red, white and blue covered the weekend's activities throughout the 2021 Air & Sea Show, representing purity, hardiness and vigilance. The NSAH's mission to bring back Memorial Day weekend's true meaning and spirit came to a success.

Coordinating interviews with honorable individuals who serve in the armed forces in the United States and those close allies who work side-by-side across a wide range of operations allowed me to hear the most intriguing stories and different meanings to what "Memorial Day" means to them. It's the bond these men and women create, the loss they face and excruciating memories that keeps them up at night to which forms the pride and promise they solemnly swear to support and defend the U.S. Constitution. Alongside host Many Muñoz and cohost Major General Harencak WIOD's radio station, I was also able to witness the bitter-sweet moments behind those who serve our country and their history in the U.S. Military.
